Description

A short ebook from my relationship series and blog: "Finding Mr Huggie-Wuggie" that is all about building an outstanding foundation for an outstanding marriage. This ebook contains 7 articles:

Christian Romantic Fiction - The Heroes!
"...I was asking myself: would the heroes (and heroines) of these stories actually make good spouses - in real life, that is? Obviously the women who write these stories (and it is overwhelmingly women, of course - or men who work with female pennames and post up photos of their wives as their author photos!) - anyway these people will of course write their stories to give their characters "happily ever after" endings - unless the story starts within marriage, in which case there will probably be a few character lessons and obstacles in the path to the "Happily Ever After"..."

Strands and Building Blocks
"...Strands and building blocks
Here is an idea: that there are two distinct but related aspects to the decision to get married. One is what I will call "strands": these are the things that pull people together to eventually persuade them/convince them to get married to one another, or the reasons why a couple decide to get married. The other is "Building Blocks": these are the things which a marriage needs to survive, to thrive, to be healthy..."

Big Cause of Awkwardness: Premature Emotional Intimacy
"...This is what causes the awkwardness: that on one hand I instinctively move to build this deep emotional intimacy with them, but on the other hand I don't know them yet! I don't know whether I can trust them; they obviously don't know whether they can trust me either; neither of us knows the other person's character. And yet you've already made yourself so vulnerable to them and told them all these deep things about yourself..."

Dear Mr Huggie-Wuggie... Talking about Shyness
"...Largely by the grace of God I have overcome these issues of shyness. However it may so happen that in interacting with you as a potential romantic prospect I get struck by shyness or awkwardness and I find myself unable to relate with you in a normal friendly way in person. Please do not be offended by that or think that that is an indication of my lack of interest. To be honest I only get shy like this with guys that I truly am attracted to, very strongly..."

Happy 4th Birthday to "Finding Mr Huggie-Wuggie!"
"...I would actually have set this up earlier. Back in 2008, I remember telling my sisters that I wanted to start something where I shared with the world what I wanted from relationships, and like all wise sisters they discouraged me, reminding me of the last time that I had not listened to them (related to an episode with a certain guy from uni!) However, the thing was burning in my heart, and I did eventually just go for it. Well here we are four years later, and I can barely express how happy I am to be in the position of writing this blog. I'm not sure whether I acknowledge this enough on this blog, but yes, my sisters were of course right; this is such a personal and private subject to be tackling and then on top of that I go into so much detail, possibly to the point of oversharing..."

Deconstructing “I Love You”
"...In this post, I aim to explain a number of the issues I have with the phrase "I love you".
I must admit that this phrase confuses me - what do men mean exactly by this? So if someone were to tell me that he loves me, I would probably just stare at him in confusion, and mumble a confused "thank you". I can imagine that that unenthusiastic response might make a man feel a little upset, especially if he has gone to great effort to build up his courage before telling me..."
